30 days of winter…day 9…Eucalyptus Oil

Eucalyptus oil is a must-have in your first aid kit for winter.

It’s antiseptic and chest opening properties mean it can help with lots of winter related cold and flu symptoms.

DIY VAPOURISER

Did you know you can make your own vaporizer for difficult breathing using a crock pot (slow cooker) and a few drops of eucalyptus oil?

Just fill up your slow cooker with water, turn onto low heat. Add a few drops (10-20 drops for a strong effect) of eucalyptus oil and put the lid on the slow cooker so it is slightly open. As the water heats, stem will come out slowly through the gap in the lid, creating a nice room-steamer. this is great way to ease your lungs if you have a very difficult breathing due to a chesty cough. If you have undiagnosed symptoms or difficult breathing be sure to see your doctor or if breathing becomes difficult suddenly then go to your hospital or call an ambulance as needed, as you could have something more serious like an asthma attack.

Also, Eucalyptus can be used to make cleaning sprays for the bathroom or surfaces where you want to naturally disinfect.

Use neat (undiluted) eucalyptus oil to remove sticky residue and writing or marks. be careful it can remove paint and may erode coatings.
