Marie Hopkinson is an experienced Chinese Medicine practitioner based in Bayswater, Perth, with over 24 years of clinical experience in both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. Her clinic offers individualised treatment rooted in Han dynasty medicine, using classical pulse diagnosis, acupuncture, and traditional herbal formulas based on the Shang Han Lun and Jingui Yaolue texts.

Marie’s clinical journey began in 2001 with her first clinic in Morley, later expanding into a combined retail and clinic space in Maylands for 11 years. After several years in North Perth, she opened her current clinic in Bayswater in 2022, where she continues to welcome new patients from across Perth, including the surrounding areas of Maylands, Morley, and North Perth.

Through the framework of Classical Chinese Medicine, Marie supports patients experiencing a wide range of symptoms such as:

• Fatigue and low energy

• Digestive discomfort

• Sleep disturbances

• Muscle and joint pain

• Menstrual health issues

• Emotional imbalances and stress

Marie originally trained in Perth and completed further clinical training at the Hangzhou TCM Hospital in China. She holds a Master of International Health from Curtin University and continues her education with ICEAM, having completed advanced studies in Canonical Chinese Medicine. 

Her qualifications include:

• Advanced Diploma of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Aust)

• Diploma of Chinese Herbal Medicine (Aust)

• Master of International Health (Curtin University)

• Diplomate in Canonical Chinese Medicine (ICEAM)

Marie is also a lecturer in Chinese Medicine, working as lecturer and clinical supervisor for over 10 years in Chinese medicine as well as lecturingin in many subjects of social science. Marie has taught Chinese medicine at three different colleges in Australia as well as running her own self-care based courses. Marie’s teaching focuses on clinical application, patient communication, and Classical herbal theory.

In addition to clinical treatment, Marie offers guidance in Chinese Diet Therapy, the branch of Chinese medicine that uses food as a method for both prevention and treatment, tailored to each individual’s constitution and current health condition.
